PriceCharting values from completed sales, read October 20, 2026. "Raw" is an ungraded copy in any condition; "Grade 9" mixes graders. "Few sales" means PSA 10 copies change hands too rarely for a reliable figure. Prices move and are not guaranteed.

Charizard is the Fire-type Pokémon that has headlined Pokémon card collecting since the English Base Set launched on January 9, 1999. TCGplayer counted nearly 100 English Charizard cards by 2023, and new sets keep adding chase versions, so "a Charizard card" can mean anything from a $1 common to a six-figure slab.

The most valuable vintage Charizard cards

Base Set Charizard 4/102 (1999)

The original. It comes in three prints that look almost alike: 1st Edition (with the "Edition 1" stamp), Shadowless and Unlimited, and the gap between them is huge, from about $334 to about $7,700 ungraded. Our Base Set Charizard guide shows how to tell them apart and what each is worth by grade.

Skyridge Charizard 146/144 (2003)

A secret rare and the last Charizard Wizards of the Coast printed, often called Crystal Charizard. Ungraded copies were selling for about $6,000 on eBay in October 2026, and a PSA 10 sold for $120,000 on Fanatics on September 1, 2026.

Charizard Star 100/101, Dragon Frontiers (2006)

The Gold Star Charizard: a shiny, Darkness-type Delta Species card. Played copies sell for around $3,200 to $4,900. PSA 10s rarely trade; one sold for $65,000 on eBay in March 2026, and PriceCharting logged a $276,000 private sale in August 2026.

Shining Charizard 107/105, Neo Destiny (2002)

The first card to show a shiny Charizard. The 1st Edition version is worth about three times the Unlimited one ungraded.

Legendary Collection Charizard 3/110 (2002)

The reverse holo, with its "fireworks" foil around the art, is one of the rare cases where a reverse holo beats the regular holo by a wide margin: about $2,946 ungraded against about $335 for the holo. PSA 10s sold for $120,000 to $140,150 in June 2026.

The most valuable modern Charizard cards

Modern chase Charizards are printed in far larger numbers, so ungraded copies sell for hundreds, not thousands. These are the ones to know:

Charizard record sales

Rarity is the reason: PriceCharting's copy of the PSA census lists about 123 PSA 10s among roughly 5,400 graded 1st Edition Charizards. Higher private and auction prices for 1st Edition PSA 10s have been reported in 2026, but we could not confirm them with the auction houses, so they are not listed here. How to tell which Charizard card you have

  1. Read the card number. It sits at the bottom of the card, such as 4/102 or 199/165. A first number higher than the second, like 146/144, means a secret rare.
  2. Find the set symbol. Base Set is the only set with no symbol at all, so a 4/102 Charizard with no symbol is a 1999 Base Set card. Base Set 2 (4/130) and Legendary Collection (3/110) have their own symbols.
  3. Look at the name. A suffix narrows the era: -EX, -GX, V and VMAX each belong to one era of the 2010s and early 2020s, lowercase "ex" was used from 2003 to 2007 and again since 2023, and "Mega Charizard X ex" and "Mega Charizard Y ex" are from 2025 and 2026.
  4. Check for stamps and foil. A 1st Edition stamp, a Prize Pack logo, a 25th or 30th anniversary logo, or a reverse-holo finish each changes the price.
  5. Look it up by set and number. Search the set name and card number on TCGplayer or PriceCharting, and compare copies in the same condition.

Condition moves the price as much as the version: a creased Base Set Charizard and a clean one can be hundreds of dollars apart. Our guide to Pokémon card value covers condition and grading.

Odds you can read are still odds

If you want one particular Charizard, buying that single is the surest way to own it. Godpack packs suit people who enjoy opening: every pack is set to a 100% expected return, so the average card across the pool is worth the pack price, but any single pack can be worth more or less than you paid, and most pulls land in the lower tiers of the odds table.

Real packs are for people 18 or older, or the age of majority where you live if higher. Open them for collecting and fun, not to make money.
