A Pokémon slab is a trading card that a grading company such as PSA, CGC or Beckett has inspected, given a condition grade from 1 to 10, and sealed in a hard plastic case. The label inside the case shows the card's name, set, grade and a certification number you can look up online. Collectors call the case, and the card in it, a slab.
What is a Pokémon slab?
A Pokémon slab is a card sealed in a hard plastic case by a grading company, with a label showing its grade. Slabs and graded Pokémon cards are the same thing; an ungraded card is called a raw card. Grading turns a judgment about condition into a number anyone can check, which is why slabs are the usual way valuable cards are bought and sold.
On Godpack, every pack holds one real card, either a Near Mint raw card or a slab graded by PSA or CGC. You can watch a slab revealed for free in the Pokémon pack opening simulator, read who runs Godpack and how payouts work, or learn the difference between a slab and a god pack.
Why collectors buy slabs
Condition, locked in
The grade records the card's condition on the day it was graded.
A grade you can check
Each slab has a certification number you can look up on the grader's site.
Protected
The sealed case keeps out fingerprints, dents and bent corners.
Easier to price
Sales are tracked by card and grade, so a PSA 10 is compared with other PSA 10s.
Harder to fake
A sealed case plus a checkable number makes swaps easy to spot.
Ready to display
Slabs stand, stack and frame without extra sleeves or toploaders.
PSA vs CGC vs BGS
Three companies grade most Pokémon slabs. All use a 1 to 10 scale; they differ in their top grades and in what the label shows.
| Grader | Top grade | On the label |
|---|---|---|
| PSA | GEM-MT 10 | One overall grade |
| CGC | Pristine 10, above Gem Mint 10 | One overall grade, with half grades such as Mint+ 9.5 |
| BGS (Beckett) | Black Label Pristine 10 | Overall grade plus four subgrades: centering, corners, edges, surface |
Godpack's packs carry PSA and CGC slabs.
What PSA grades mean
PSA 10 means Gem Mint: a virtually perfect card, with sharp corners, full gloss and good centering. Each grade below it allows a little more wear.
| Grade | Name |
|---|---|
| PSA 10 | Gem Mint (GEM-MT) |
| PSA 9 | Mint |
| PSA 8 | Near Mint–Mint (NM-MT) |
| PSA 7 | Near Mint (NM) |
| PSA 6 | Excellent–Mint (EX-MT) |
| PSA 5 | Excellent (EX) |
| PSA 1–4 | Poor to Very Good–Excellent |
How much does PSA grading cost?
Grading a Pokémon card with PSA starts at $59.99 per card for the Standard level, which PSA opened in September 2026 while its cheaper Value levels are paused. Standard covers cards with a declared value up to $1,000 and has a 90 to 100 business-day estimate. Faster levels cost more: Priority is $79.99 and Express is $199.
| Grader | Level | Per card | Declared value up to |
|---|---|---|---|
| PSA | Standard, 90–100 business days | $59.99 | $1,000 |
| CGC | Economy, 90 working days | $20 | $1,000 |
| CGC | Bulk, 25-card minimum, 150 working days | $17 | $500 |
Return shipping is extra. PSA charges $19.99 to send back one to four cards insured up to $2,000. So grading only pays off when the graded card should be worth clearly more than the fee and shipping. Pulling a slab that is already graded skips the wait.
Examples: slabs in Godpack packs
A modern PSA 10 in the Master pack
Mega Charizard X ex from Phantasmal Flames, graded PSA 10, was listed at $1,626.16 in the $100 Master pack on October 17, 2026.
A vintage card in a lower grade
Dark Dragonite from Legendary Collection is only a PSA 5, yet at $1,664.16 it was worth more than that Charizard. The card matters as much as the grade.
A CGC 10 from a Wizards promo
A Mew Wizards Black Star Promo graded CGC 10 sat in the same pack at $813.75, a reminder that PSA is not the only grader collectors trust.
A slab in a $1 pack
The $1 Starter pack is mostly raw cards, but its top tier held thirteen PSA slabs that day, such as a PSA 9 Mr. Mime-GX from Celestial Storm at $22.
How to buy Pokémon slabs
Card shops and shows
You can see the slab before you pay. Check the label and look up the certification number on the grader's site.
eBay and other marketplaces
The widest choice of graded Pokémon cards for sale. Compare recent sold prices for the same card and grade, and make sure the photos show the actual certification number.
Mystery slab packs
You pay a fixed price for a random slab. Before buying, check that the seller shows what is in the pool and the odds of each value range.
Cheap PSA 10 Pokémon cards
A PSA 10 grade does not set the price on its own: the card, its set and how many copies share that grade all matter. Compare recent sold prices for the exact card and grade before you buy.
More about Pokémon slabs
Why raw cards fall short for valuable pulls
A raw card's condition is a matter of opinion, and a single bent corner can cut its price. A slab settles the question and protects the card.
How Godpack packs work for slabs
Each pack draws one card from its own pool. Master holds PSA and CGC slabs only; Trainer and Arena mix slabs with raw cards; Starter is mostly raw. Every pack shows its value range and full odds before you open.
Shipping a slab from Godpack
Your slab waits in your Vault. Request shipping within seven days: $5 to the US or $10 to Canada, one card per shipment. We ship within 2–3 business days of your request.
Buying slabs responsibly
Prices move with demand, and a slab can lose value. Buy cards you want to own, at prices you are comfortable with.

| Arena | $25, raw cards plus more PSA and CGC slabs |

Pulling a slab vs buying one
Buying a slab outright gets you the exact card you chose. Opening a pack gets you one card at random from that pack's pool. Every Godpack pack is set to a 100% expected return, so on average the card is worth the pack price, but any single pack can be worth more or less, and most pulls come from the lower value ranges in the odds table.
You must be 18 or older, or the age of majority where you live if that is higher, to open real packs. Open them for collecting and fun, not to make money.

FAQ

A Pokémon slab is a card sealed in a hard plastic case by a grading company such as PSA, CGC or Beckett. Its label shows the card, its grade from 1 to 10 and a certification number.
What does PSA 10 mean?
PSA 10 means Gem Mint, the highest grade PSA gives. The card is virtually perfect, with sharp corners, full gloss and good centering.
Are slabs worth more than raw cards?
Usually, for the same card in high grades, because a grade makes condition easy to check. Low grades, or cards few people want, may not be worth the cost of grading.
Where can I buy cheap PSA 10 Pokémon cards?
Look at recent cards printed in large numbers, sold on eBay, at card shops or at shows. Compare recent sold prices for the same card and grade, and check the certification number.
How much does it cost to get a Pokémon card graded?
At PSA the cheapest open level, Standard, costs $59.99 per card for cards declared at up to $1,000, plus return shipping. CGC Economy costs $20 per card up to $1,000. Prices are from each company's site on October 20, 2026.
What are mystery Pokémon slabs?
Mystery slabs are random graded cards sold at a fixed price. On Godpack, the Master pack is one: $100 for one PSA or CGC slab, with full odds shown before you open.
Is PSA or CGC better for Pokémon cards?
Both are widely used, and Godpack's packs carry both. PSA gives one overall grade from 1 to 10, while CGC adds a Pristine 10 above Gem Mint 10 and half grades such as Mint+ 9.5.
